DE State's Crash Report
DE State's Crash Report
On This page:
The State of Delaware publishes Crash Report on Public Roads at the end of each month, usually, up to 6 months prior to the publication. The report goes back to 2009. To view the State's Crash Report Dashboard, click https://data.delaware.gov/stories/s/9yvr-c38p and follow the instructions.
Limitations of the Crash Report:
This data does not reflect any crashes in private properties, such as grocery store parking lots - the 2/6/2023 crash that took a woman's life near Harrie Teeter or the 11/10/2022 crash in the Weis parking lot in Long Neck do not show up.
Some fatalities may not be reported if the victims die away from the crash site - because this data is often entered by the officers responding to the crash site.
The accidents do not show how many victims are involved.
To reduce the amount of data to load and to allow different filtering criteria, a new dashboard just for Sussex County has been created using the State's data by Eul Lee: visit https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/cf4bf0abd7224afd8d9b9f82719f30f6
See the clipping below from the Dashboard.
You can zoom in and out of areas, and filter data by Crash Type or Year. If you click a dot on the map, a popup screen displays details about the dot. Some dots may represent more than one crash if the map is too small to display each event - enlarging the map will allow the dots to spread out.
For example, the following 2 maps show the same intersection for 2022 crash data. The red dot on the first map represents 4 separate events as shown on the second zoomed-out map.
If in doubt, please visit the State's Dashboard from the link above. If you find any discrepancies, please report them to Rt24Alliance@gmail.com
